CoreSTUDIO is the University of Oregon’s Department of Art foundation art and design curriculum comprised of three primary course sections that are pre-requisites for the department’s media areas; Sculpture, Painting and Drawing, Jewely-Metalsmithing, Fibers, Photography, Digital Arts and Printmaking - as well as serving Product Design and the larger university community.

Core’s innovative curriculum collapses dimensional distinctions so that students grapple with dimensional iterations exploring differing media’s functions in relation to one another. Students explore how transitioning medias function, succeed, and fail in multiple forms exposing students to the interrelationship of perception, systems of representation, and the limitations in 2D, 3D, and 4D outputs.
