Grove Community Garden Work Party
2:00 p.m.Nov
1
2:00–4:00 p.m.
Volunteer at UO's only student-led community garden. Nearly every Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Grove Community Garden (just behind Global Scholars Hall).
Work parties are when we come together to collectively care for the space. We have raised beds and other planting areas that are managed by the overall community to produce food (mainly vegetables) for the student food pantry, the SSC Produce Drop, Eugene Food Not Bombs, and of course (and often primarily) those who come each week to volunteer. So, a typical work party may include harvesting food, weeding beds, sowing seeds/transplanting starts, chipping a wood path, etc. There is no signup ahead of time, the only prep beforehand is dressing for the weather in clothes you don't mind some dirt/sweat on.
Sign up for our newsletter for weekly reminders and updates, and follow us on Instagram too!
Note that at times, we have to cancel/reschedule work parties due to unpredictable circumstances, and we may be unable to update this recurring weekly posting. See the above channels for the most up-to-date information. Feel free to email info@uoregon.College with any questions or inquiries.

Improvement Movement, the social betterment campaign/prog-rock quartet/non-denominational cult from Atlanta, GA, have made a new record just for you and your modern day malaise. It’s called Your Perfect Real Life, because, well, there’s a lot going right these days, right? Arriving August 21, 2026 via ATO Records, Your Perfect Real Life is prismatic, angular, jumpy, and eccentric. It’s sure to inundate your ears, corporeal form, and spiritual body with equal parts unadulterated bliss and realist catharsis, or, in other words, as much good as you can reasonably feel these days.
Set in a world of chaos where the news seems to be perpetually recounting stories of planes falling out of the sky, urban wildfires, the uncanny nature of a southern snowfall, and schlepping ads that feel plucked from a sci-fi movie, Your Perfect Real Life makes an earnest case for embracing life’s relentless unpredictability. Animated by the band’s baroque take on the angular harmonies of grunge, the record’s eleven tracks sprawl and simmer, enlivened by the Improvement Movement’s novel employment of dynamics, sticky melodies, four-part harmony, and a treasure trove of experimental instruments. If you’ve ever found yourself enraptured by the lush harmonies of Fleet Foxes, the theatrics of early Genesis tracks, or the candid intimacy of Art Garfunkel, Improvement Movement may be for you.

Grove Community Garden Work Party
2:00 p.m.Nov
15

OA Listening Session
2:00 p.m.Nov
16
2:00–3:30 p.m.
The OA Council invites all officers of administration to a listening session on Monday, November 16 in the EMU Ballroom from 2-3:30 p.m. (with virtual option for UO Portland). Hear directly from university leadership about the year ahead and bring your questions.
President Karl Scholz will share remarks on the university’s priorities and what's next for UO. He’ll be joined by Provost Chris Long and Jamie Moffit, vice president for financial administration. Most of the session is reserved for open Q&A, so there will be plenty of time for your questions.
This is a challenging year, and OAs play a central role in keeping the university running. Your perspective matters, and this is your chance to share it with university leaders in person, ask hard questions, and hear straight answers.
Come ready to listen, ask, and talk with colleagues from across campus. Share you questions through this form.

UO Oxfam America Hunger Banquet
5:30 p.m.Nov
18
5:30–7:30 p.m.
Hunger is not an accident of nature, but a result of how resources get distributed. The UO Oxfam Hunger Banquet is an immersive event designed to make food distribution impossible to ignore. When you arrive at this event, you draw a card at random, and it will assign you to a high-, middle-, or low-income tier, in proportions drawn from current global inequality statistics. The event meal distribution will go like this:
- Twenty percent of guests are seated at tables and served a full meal.
- Thirty percent receive rice and beans.
- The remaining half sit on the floor with a small portion of rice and water.
Nobody chooses their tier, and that is the point. After the meal, everyone comes together to talk about what they experienced and what can be done with it. Oxfam has been running Hunger Banquets for more than fifty years, beginning with the 1974 Fast for a World Harvest, when 250,000 people across the United States skipped a meal to take a stand against hunger and inequality. Since then, nearly a million people have attended one of Oxfam's Banquets.
We are also running a campus-wide food drive. Everything collected goes to the Student Food Pantry. We encourage donations of non-perishable food items, including canned beans, canned proteins (such as tuna), spices, condiments, and holiday foods such as canned cranberry sauce. Other non-perishable food donations are also welcome!
Since 1974, Oxfam has been working with volunteers to create awareness of hunger and inequality. Oxfam Hunger Banquets give you the opportunity to make a difference, both locally and globally. They are volunteer-led interactive events that bring statistics about poverty to life.
RSVP for the event is encouraged but not required.
UO Oxfam Hunger Banquet and Food Drive is sponsored by the Global Justice Project. This event is part of International Education Month (IEM) programming. View the full calendar of IEM events here: https://international.uoregon.edu/IEM.
