Tuition & Fees
Your LLM budget includes tuition, required fees, and expenses such as books, housing, and food. The information below explains university charges and what else to consider when planning your budget.
Tuition
Tuition rates are the same across all LLM tracks. The fully online Sports Law LLM is the only track that offers part-time study. For enrollment below nine credits per semester, tuition is calculated at the per-credit rate. At nine credits per semester, the full-time tuition rate applies. Required fees are charged separately. To find tuition for your planned course load, select LLM, the applicable academic year, and your residency classification in the tuition table linked below.
Tuition and fees are subject to change each academic year. Students studying part time should budget for applicable fees each semester they enroll and potential rate changes over the course of the program.
Required Fees
Mandatory enrollment fees differ for students attending on the Eugene campus and those enrolled exclusively online. The table below shows how each fee applies under the university’s current fee structure.
Fee | Eugene campus | Online only |
|---|---|---|
Building | Full fee | Full fee |
Health Service | Full fee | Not charged |
Incidental | Full fee | 50% of fee |
Recreation Center | Full fee | Not charged |
Student Union | Full fee | Not charged |
Technology | Full fee | Full fee |
“Full fee” means the full amount established for that fee in the applicable academic year.
2026-2027 Mandatory Fees per Semester
Fee | Eugene Campus | Online Only |
|---|---|---|
Building | $67.50 | $67.50 |
Health Service | $412.88 | $0.00 |

Student Union | $353.25 | $0.00 |
Technology | $102.00 | $102.00 |
Total Mandatory Fees/Semester | $1,417.51 | $290.44 |
These amounts are separate from tuition and do not include one-time fees, health insurance, or any applicable course fees.
One-Time Fees for New Students
Students beginning their first semester at UO should also budget for these charges:
2026-2027 One-Time Fees | Amount |
|---|---|
Matriculation Fee | $570 |
Event Fee | $400 |
Total One-Time Fees | $970 |
Admissions Deposit
If you accept an offer of admission, a $500 nonrefundable seat deposit is required to reserve your place in the LLM program. The deposit is credited toward your tuition; it is not an additional program cost.
Planning Your Overall Budget
Your total Cost of Attendance includes tuition and fees plus living and other educational expenses during your enrollment. It is a budgeting estimate, not the amount you will be billed by the university. Plan for the following expenses in addition to tuition and fees.
Expense | What to budget for |
|---|---|
Books, course materials, and supplies | Required materials for your courses |
Housing and food | Living expenses where you will reside while studying |
Transportation | Travel and commuting expenses, as applicable |
Personal expenses | Other day-to-day expenses |
Health insurance | Coverage costs, as applicable (see UO Student Heath Plan information) |
Computer | A computer suitable for your coursework, if needed |
Health Insurance
International students enrolled in the full-time, in-person LLM program are automatically enrolled in and billed for the UO international student health insurance plan unless they receive an approved waiver. Domestic LLM students may be eligible to purchase coverage through the UO student health insurance plan.
Review the university’s health insurance information for current eligibility requirements, premiums, coverage dates, and waiver procedures.
Visa-Related Fees
International students applying for an F-1 visa should budget for the SEVIS fee. Visit the SEVIS website for current fee amounts and payment instructions.
The university’s publishes law student cost-of-attendance estimates that may be helpful in identifying expenses to consider but are designed for full-time law students living in Eugene. They do not provide a separate estimate for online or part-time LLM students.
Scholarships & Financial Aid
LLM Scholarships
All LLM applicants are automatically considered for a merit-based tuition scholarship. If you receive an award, your acceptance letter will explain the scholarship amount and conditions.
Financial Aid and Other Funding
Additional funding options depend on your eligibility and the requirements of each funding source. Explore our LLM scholarships and financial aid resources for information for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, eligible noncitizens, and international students. For questions about applying for financial aid or how your planned enrollment may affect eligibility, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. If you plan to study part time, discuss your anticipated credit load with Financial Aid as you develop your budget.
