Voice Class Stretching

Find Your Voice at the University of Oregon

As a voice student at the UO School of Music and Dance, you are part of a vibrant community dedicated to cultivating your authentic voice. Whether your goal is the stage, the classroom, or both, you will gain the artistry, technique, and experience to thrive as a singer and musician.

Thanks to small class sizes and an immersive environment, you don’t get lost in the crowd. You receive close mentorship from a faculty of active performers and specialists, and tailored instruction in classical vocal arts from early music and opera to art song, pedagogy, and lyric diction. Plus, you have access to a wide array of performance opportunities, including:

  • Choral ensembles of various sizes, from our premier, award-winning Chamber Choir (first place at the 2024 World Choir Games) to Gospel Choir and Collegium Musicum.
  • Fully staged opera productions presented in original languages.
  • Local professional opportunities with Oregon Bach Festival, Eugene Symphony, and Eugene Opera, as well as other arts organizations.
  • Degree recitals showcasing personal artistry and growth.
  • Weekly studio and combined repertoire classes.
  • Student-led concerts and collaborations, offering opportunities to produce custom-curated programs, mount original works, and partner directly with peers.
  • Solo appearances with instrumental ensembles.
