Spring football is back in Eugene. The Ducks held its first of 15 spring practices on Wednesday morning. Oregon's spring workouts will culminate with the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 29 at Autzen Stadium. New Co-Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach Mario Cristobal and quarterback Justin Herbert spoke to the media about the new staff and what the team hopes to accomplish in spring ball. Oregon Softball swept Portland State in the team's double-header Tuesday night, winning 3-1 in the first game before run-ruling the Vikings 8-0 in the second. Miranda Elish went the distance and allowed just one run in the first game, while UO's offense waited until late to light up PSU pitcher Emma Detamore, scoring two runs in the 6th. In the second game, Oregon reached peak efficiency, scoring 8 runs on only 5 hits, while Megan Kleist needed just 48 pitches to throw a 5 inning complete game. Oregon (35-0) will next face UCLA, the team that knocked them out of the last two postseasons, in Los Angeles. The hit spoiled a great start by Sun Devil's pitcher Dale Ryndack, who allowed 5 hits, 6 walks, and only 1 run on 3 strikeouts through 7 innings. The Ducks got a nice start themselves from Megan Kleist (6.1 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts and no runs) before Maggie Balint closed the game out with 1.2 scoreless innings. The Oregon Ducks' men's basketball team could not overcome the final hurdle in the trek for a national championship game berth as the season came to an end in Glendale on Saturday night.
