Representation. Also, take care of yourself.

This first couple of days here has been absolutely amazing. Not only do I feel represented in general ethnic diversity at some of the agencies, but I have noticed a significant handful of Asian-Americans both at the agencies and in this cohort. That makes me extremely full of gratitude and pride. Of course, I want ethnic diversity in the advertising, but it’s also a cherry on top when you get to interact with people who look like you and have similar experiences. 

Second of all, as Deb has mentioned, don’t forget to take care of yourself. I was on the edge of tears for basically the whole Flock event Monday night because (especially as an introvert), I had completely exhausted my social fuel, and I hadn’t planned for it. Monday was great. I just forgot that I need to take breaks for myself, eat, be alone, and find places where I feel most safe. Usually, that isn’t in networking situations where there’s a bunch of people mingling with drinks. However, I think that I’m also going out of my comfort zone on this trip, and I’ve already reached out to several people. 

I know there are more good things to come, even if I get a little burnt out.
