Ask and You Shall Receive

How wonderful was it to have the continued support and guidance from the Flock women this past week and as we go forward with our careers? Immeasurably wonderful. One of the most important conversations that arose during the Flock panel was that of how to talk about money. I always wondered about this, how do you negotiate? How do you really get what your worth? How do you even know what you are worth in the first place? These women made it clear that first, even though it might feel taboo, it’s ok to talk to people about salary and get their advice. The most impactful thing I learned though, is that if you don’t ask for what you want, you won’t get it. They also made it clear that asking for more money won’t make any employer want to work with you any less. While this topic is still big and scary, it feels a little bit more manageable, especially knowing that we female Ducks have such an amazing network to fall back on!
