The One Show to rule them all

I went into the One Show expecting to see students around our skill level showing off work that was on par with what we have done. It was very quickly made apparent how wrong I was, for a few reasons. 

Right off the bat, I could tell that the quality of the work we were seeing was much higher than I had expected. Some of the ideas were incredibly creative and the attention to detail I was seeing was unlike anything I had seen from students. This immediately took me off my Allen throne of lies where we think we are the top dogs of the industry before we’ve gotten into the industry. This was very humbling and was the most important thing I took from the award show.

The next thing I noticed was the lack of strategy that went into some of the executions/campaigns we saw. Don’t get me wrong, I thought most of the winners had outstanding work, but I felt that many of them created work that in my head didn’t seem feasible or well thought out. The example that jumps to mind for this is the group that created a new siren for emergency response vehicles that would be used for any instance of an overdose. I thought that this was a very creative idea but I found a number of issues with its feasibility and how the public would react (If I were being helped, I wouldn’t want people knowing that I overdosed). 

Overall, I though it was a incredible experience and I’m very glad that we got to partake in it.
