“Pollyanna (adjusted to fit), distorted for the times”- WHY PICTURES NOW by Louise Lawler– 2007/2008/2012

Louise Lawler is known for the continuous reframing and restaging throughout her work. She revisits her own images and transforms them into something new as, “pictures can have more than one life.” This includes photographs and her “adjusted to fit” (images stretched or expanded to fit the location of their display). Lawler challenges linear understandings of artistic and cultural evolution and her work rarely showcases a straight line. Her work is and has been an inspiration among creatives for the past four decades.   

The exhibit is beyond brilliant, witty and everything I love about contemporary art.
