The week after coming back is just as important as the actual time walking the streets. Processing what I’ve learned about myself and translating that into decisions about my life direction takes time, and with a week of work lapsed it can be hard to make that actually happen. One tip I learned from a portfolio review with a senior strategist is to go into every meeting with the mindset of taking advanced notes, not just recording what people say but writing about the implications of the discussion. After every meeting, summarize what was discussed into the top 5 most important things. This technique has really helped me filter and translate the vast amounts of experience and knowledge I have encountered this week.
