Prep your devices for Sept. 5 change to UO Wi-Fi

All devices that use UO Wi-Fi need a brief software update to keep connecting. Action is required.

  • The UO will switch its two secure Wi-Fi networks to a new security standard on Saturday, Sept. 5. 
  • Prepare your devices now—computers, phones, and tablets—so you can reconnect seamlessly after the change.
  • Visit the new UO Wi-Fi webpage to install the new software for UO Secure and eduroam wireless.

Update your Wi-Fi now—from anywhere

Got a network or cellular connection? Take a few minutes to update your Wi-Fi software. (You don't need the UO network.)

  1. Visit wifi.uoregon.edu.
  2. Click Get connected.
  3. Follow the instructions.

After Sept. 5, you can still install the new software. You may just need to temporarily use a different network connection, such as UO Guest Wi-Fi.

Same Wi-Fi, now with streamlined security

  • Password change? No problem. UO Secure and eduroam will recognize your devices—so you’ll stay connected.
  • Security upgrade. This new software helps secure our wireless connections with modern, device-based authentication.

Why is this happening now?

  • Due to an unexpected change by a vendor, Information Service was unable to extend this transition beyond Sept 5 as originally planned.

Which network should I use at the UO?

  • Use either UO Secure or eduroam—our two secure networks.
  • For UO students, faculty, and staff, these two networks now work the same at the UO. 
  • Eduroam offers a big bonus: it lets you to connect to Wi-Fi at thousands of other institutions in the US and around the world.

You can use UO Guest temporarily to install the software for UO Secure and eduroam.
