GSL 404: Internship for Credit

GSL 404: Internship is a Pass/No Pass course that allows undergraduate students in the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages to earn 1-4 academic credits for completing an internship or professional experience related to their target language. An academic internship is one form of experiential learning that facilitates real-world application of classroom knowledge and theory. Through the internship, students will develop professional skills, gain hands-on experience, evaluate career opportunities, and begin building a professional network. Upon fulfilling the requirements of the internship provider, students will complete a critical reflection to examine the connection between the internship, Schnitzer School coursework, and their professional goals.

Connect with your advisor or the Intercultural Experiences and Career Readiness Coordinator to see if credits can be applied to your major. Please note that departmental approval is required and not guaranteed. See the full list of Schnitzer School majors here.

Funding Opportunities

CAS Experiential Learning Opportunity Scholarship: Up to $2,000

The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite undergraduate students to apply for scholarships to support them in pursuing experiential learning opportunities. The scholarship will provide financial support of up to $2,000 to assist students in completing an unpaid internship, research opportunity, or service-learning experience. Preference will be given to applicants with financial need, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships. We will consider assistance for paid internships where the case can be made that the compensation will not be adequate to cover living expenses.

CAPS Partner Internship Course Fellowship: Up to $300

In collaboration with the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages, CAPS offers two fellowships per term to students completing an internship for credit with a CAPS partner organization. Each fellowship provides up to $300 to help cover internship course tuition for students who demonstrate financial need and have remaining tuition costs after other eligible scholarship funding has been applied.

As a last-dollar scholarship, applicants are required to apply for other available experiential learning or internship scholarships first. CAPS fellowship funding is intended to help bridge any remaining gap in internship course tuition after other scholarship support has been applied.
