Question
How can I add additional mailboxes to my Outlook?
Solution
If you have been granted access to a shared mailbox, you can add it to Outlook using the steps below.
UOmail (Outlook Web Application - Easiest)
- Login to UOmail with your Duck ID credentials
- Select your profile icon in the upper-right corner
- In the drop-down menu, select Open another mailbox
- Enter the email address of the account in question - this will open the mailbox in a second tab in your browser.
Outlook for Windows
- Open the Outlook application on your computer.
- Right-click on your email address in the left bar, and select Add a Shared Folder or Mailbox.
- In the box, enter the email address for the account you have been granted access to. Select the account, and click Add.
Outlook for Mac
- With Outlook, open click on the Outlook menu at the top of the screen, next to the Apple icon.
- Select Settings.
- Select Accounts.
- Select the + button on the bottom-left corner and select Open Shared Mailbox...
- In the search box, enter the person's name or email address of the inbox you would like to add.
- Select the name and press OK.
- The inbox should show up on the sidebar below your regular email address. (Note: Keep in mind that it may take some time to fully load the contents of the inbox.)
Outlook (classic) for Windows
- Open the Outlook application on your computer.
- Select the File tab in the top left corner.
- Select Account Settings then select account settings again from the drop-down menu.
- In the new window that appears, double-click on the email account you would like to add mailboxes to (most likely your own)
- Select More Settings... then click on the Advanced tab.
- Select Add... then type in the name of the mailbox you would like to add to your account and click OK.
- Once you've added the mailbox, select Apply, then OK.
- Close Outlook and re-open it and your mailbox will be added and will show up at the bottom of your list of mailboxes in the left column of Outlook. (Note: that it may take some time to fully load the contents of a recently added mailbox.)
