Counseling Services

Let’s Talk

Tuesdays, starting week one
2:00–4:00 p.m.
Location: Multicultural Center (109 EMU)
Facilitator: Karime Hernandez, CSWA

Let’s Talk offers brief informal consultations on a drop-in basis. There is no scheduling needed and no paperwork to complete. Students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis either in person at Let’s Talk locations across campus and/or by Zoom. There may be a wait if the Let’s Talk staff member is meeting with another student. Please wait and we will be with you as soon as we can. Let’s Talk appointments are brief (usually 15–30 minutes) and are meant to be used on an as-needed basis.

Latine Support Group Therapy

Wednesdays, starting week three
2:00–3:30 p.m.
Facilitators: Karime Hernandez, CSWA, and Kate Phillips, LCSW

Latine Support Group provides a culturally affirming space for Latine-identified students to process experiences, share information, and develop skills to navigate challenges such as academic stress, family expectations, imposter syndrome, relationships, mental health concerns, and more. The group fosters belonging and connection by creating a supportive community with peers who may share similar cultural experiences, values, and challenges. Members can find validation, build community, and feel empowered to navigate their experiences within a protected therapy space.

One-on-One Sessions with a Latine Student Specialist

Counseling Services has therapists who specialize in working with Latine and undocumented students. If you would like to meet with one of these staff members, call Counseling Services at 541-346-3227 to schedule an appointment or stop by University Health Services for a drop-in appointment. You will meet with one of our Mental Health Access Team members, and you can request to work with a Latine Student Specialist for short-term therapy or ask more about any of the Latine student services and programs we provide.

We want to be a part of your academic support team by serving as way-finders and institutional translators of campus policies, resources, and information. We work together to help you take full advantage of the educational, professional, and social opportunities at the University of Oregon. We want to ensure your overall well-being and success on campus by supporting you academically, socially, culturally, and emotionally.

Multicultural Center (MCC)

The Multicultural Center brings together undergraduate and graduate students with the greater campus community at large. Its primary goal is to create a space which promotes student leadership development and personal growth, cultural pluralism and positive social change, and community building and education.
