SEIU represents approximately 1,500 classified staff members who perform a wide range of important functions in areas such as facilities, administrative support, health care, dining services, and information technology. The collective bargaining agreement is between SEIU and Oregon's seven public universities, including the University of Oregon.
2026 Negotiations
On September 14 and 15, SEIU 503's higher education members voted to authorize a strike. On September 18, SEIU leadership gave the universities a ten-day strike notice. This means that if agreement is not reached, SEIU will strike on September 28. Use the resources linked below for updates and guidance for employees and supervisors.
