The program, based at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, selects news media partners recognized for excellence in covering their communities and their dedication to teaching, coaching and mentoring emerging\u00a0 journalists.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text width=”800″ align=”left”]News partners provide paid, 10-week internships that allow students to work side-by-side with professionals, practicing the essential skills required to provide news and information to their communities. Reporting, photography and multimedia interns often cover general assignment stories, such police, city hall, schools sand community events. The interns often produce in-depth stories on local issues, personalities, regional heritage, and the arts.<\/p>\n
The Snowden supports its news partners by reimbursing at least half of the salary costs of the internships.<\/p>\n
