Lookin back at my time in New York like:
That insane week feels like a million years ago but the lessons I was able to learn from that opportunity are still in my head. Today, I got rejected from Upstream, something that made me pretty disappointed in my abilities. But while I was checking my email inbox, I got another message congratulating me on my acceptance to the Planned Parenthood fellowship I applied to for this summer! If I never went on this trip, I never would have been inspired to follow my passion of social justice and see where that will help me land, even if it is abstract.
NYC taught me that passion is possibly the most important quality you can have in this industry. It taught me that advertising is changing too rapidly for you to just be following suit, but that to be successful you need to be leading the change. It taught me that even if you don’t see any position or agency or person like me, there’s an opportunity for you to be one of the first.
