Round Two.

Most championships in sports don’t come down to a single shot, punch, hit, or kick. They are instead determined by years of hard work, tenacity, and dedication. We like to think that Serena Williams, Michael Phelps, Leo Messi and other all-time greats have always been great and tend to forget about their struggles. All of these athletes could’ve given up at the notion of scandal, motherhood, injury, or a myriad of other career-halting scenarios.

But they didn’t.

Over my time in this program, I’ve been fortunate enough to hear many keynote speakers discuss insights within ad. One in particular from Mark Revermann of fluent360 has consistently stuck out to me: Advertising is its own sport. The competition, highest of highs, lowest of lows and teamwork are all present.

Maybe I’m naïve, but I don’t think great pieces of work in the industry come from singular ideas. It’s the agency culture, environment, and most importantly the people who work together that foster solutions for brands.

I’m coming to NYC for the second time to learn and absorb, but also to look at teams and understand how I might fit. After all, it’s a sport and I’m hungry to compete.
