A shift in drive. I started the New York trip with the title art director and left a creative project manager. Although I will continue to use and cultivate the skills I have learned as an AD, I realized that being a project manager is a better utilization of my skills as a whole. I discovered job titles and positions I didn’t know existed. It got me so excited. There IS a perfect job out there.
Speaking of the perfect job - I met a copywriter at an agency who is in his late 30′s. He told me that he still only puts work in his portfolio that position him to get his dream job of working for a skate company. Coming from the SOJC where some students get their dream jobs right out of college, It was refreshing to hear from someone later in the game still pushing to get where they want to go.
It won’t come easy, but I am leaving New York fired up and ready to position myself to one day get my dream job. Anna Rath | 5.15.18
