The Power of Empathy

While at BBDO, the need for empathy in the advertising world sparked discussion during Q and A.

Because empathy is rooted in understand another person through human connection, it’s for a long time been associated with healthy relationships.

Yet, why is it important?

In regards to the inner workings of a large agency, Cody, an account manager at BBDO, said “it’s all about personalities at the end of the day.”

He argued empathy helps cohesion and leaves people feeling confident and understood.

When an agency values empathy to this extent, it translates in their work and connects with audiences on a human level. In this sense, empathy is pivotal to producing smart, thoughtful work.

It was a meaningful answer to a simple question that made me realize BBDO, as well as many other agencies, are creating important work.

With that said, since human emotion is as complex as city planning in NY, bellow is an 11/10 resource to explain what empathy is and how it’s different from sympathy.
