Learn the ancient technique of glass blowing using the same soda lime glass recipe and tools that have been used for a thousand years. Our Craft Center Glass and Fabrication coordinator will guide you in this hands-on workshop. Using a hollow pipe, called a punty, you will learn to gather hot molten glass to prepare and make your own creation at the workbench. Attendees will make paper weights and a small vessel over this 3-session workshop. Please note: All glass projects must go through a kiln for 24 hours, before you can take them home. The instructor will provide you with a pickup date.
Physical Endurance This workshop requires extended periods of standing, bending, and using hand tools, which may be physically demanding.
Heat Exposure Due to the nature of this workshop, participants will work in close proximity to extreme heat sources. Proper protective gear will be provided to ensure safety. Please dress appropriately for studio conditions.Experience Level - No experience necessary– just bring your creativity!
