Studio Orientation and Waiver Membership required for all new studio users not registered for a workshop to become acquainted with studio policies and space usage. Users must have prior experience to take this orientation. Prior experience is defined as workshop or class experience within the past 2 years and a full understanding of the studio processes from beginning to end. p>
For the sewing machine, that experience must include the following: • Competence in threading and using a sewing machine. • Understanding of different types of stitches and when to use them. • Ability to read and follow sewing machine manuals. • Knowledge of fabric types and how they behave.
For other fibers processes including spinning, felting, embroidery, knitting, and crochet, that experience must include the following: • Ability to manage and prepare fibers (e.g., spinning, or felting). • Proficiency in the craft medium (e.g., knitting, embroidery, crochet, needle felting).
