Evidence provides the supporting documentation to showcase students\u2019 ability to accomplish the Can-Do.&nbsp;For technical instructions on how students should upload evidence into their portfolios, please see our <a href=\"http:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/educator-using-linguafolio\/technological-tutorials\/\">technology tutorials<\/a>. There is also information regarding proficiency assessment that is included with those technology tutorials.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence can take many forms, and a variety of media types can be uploaded to LinguaFolio Online, including text evidence, audio files, and evidence from Web 2.0 applications.<\/p>\n<p>Help students think about evidence would best demonstrate their language ability. For example, to demonstrate mastery of a Can-Do Statement related listening or reading, students could upload a target language sample along with their own summary of the sample. As they progress in their language learning, students will become more aware that certain characteristics apply to different proficiency levels.<\/p>\n<p>Below are proficiency descriptions and examples of evidence in English.<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"90\">NOVICE<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"343\">\n<ul>\n<li>Produce and understand words, phrases, memorized expressions, and short, simple sentences<\/li>\n<li>Rely on cues from background knowledge, context, and visual information<\/li>\n<li>Memorize common, familiar vocabulary words and grammar structure and patterns<\/li>\n<li>Improve fluency by imitating teachers and other proficient speakers of the language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"90\">INTERMEDIATE<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"343\">\n<ul>\n<li>Produce and understand more complex sentences, paragraphs, and longer conversations<\/li>\n<li>Understand the main idea and details from materials in mainstream media<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with the language more and express thoughts with more elaboration<\/li>\n<li>Able to communicate on a wide variety of topics beyond simple daily life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Novice Writing Evidence Exemplar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Novice-Mid: I can write lists that help me in my day-to-day life.<\/em><br \/>\nThis picture shows a packing list for a camping trip and uses everyday vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/05\/wr-nm-camping.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"wr-nm-camping\" src=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/05\/wr-nm-camping-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Intermediate Writing Evidence Exemplar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Intermediate-Low: I can express my opinion on familiar topics using a series of sentences with some details.<\/em><br \/>\nThis student wrote their opinion about food, using complete sentences and a variety of vocabulary words.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/08\/fish.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"fish\" src=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/08\/fish-267x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Novice Reading Evidence Exemplar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Novice-High:&nbsp;I can understand everyday notices in public places.<\/em><br \/>\nThis piece of evidence shows a poster for graduation.
