It is broken down for you in the sections below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal Setting with LinguaFolio Online: Selecting Can-Do Statements&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meaningful learning is encouraged through the selection of appropriate learning targets. These targets are set forth by the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements (<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/09\/Can-Do_Statements.pdf\">2015 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/03\/Can-Do_Interpretive_v2_TEAM_EDITS_-_SEPT_5_1.pdf\">2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Interpretive Communication<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/03\/Can-Do_Interpersonal_v2_TEAM_EDITS-SEPT_5_1.pdf\">2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Interpersonal Communication<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/03\/Can-Do_Presentational_v2_TEAM_EDITS_-_SEPT_5_1.pdf\">2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Presentational Communication<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/11\/Intercultural-Can-Do_Statements.pdf\">2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Intercultural Communication<\/a>)&nbsp;and any customized Can-Do Statements that LFO users create. Selecting the appropriate learning targets requires intentional and thoughtful backwards design from educators and a true understanding of goal setting from learners. In order to help learners to understand goal setting, we have developed a&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/03\/Learner-Goal-Setting-Handout.pdf\">Learner Goal Setting Handout<\/a>&nbsp;to review in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>We also have developed many resources designed to help walk educators through the backwards design process. The first is our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/03\/Can-Do-Planning-Worksheet.pdf\">Can-Do Planning Worksheet<\/a>, a handout designed to help users to consider all Can-Do Statements that might be relevant to an assessment at the end of a unit of study. This worksheet is designed to complement the planning process exemplified by our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/03\/Unit_Planner_Guide_Final_Updates.pdf\">Unit Planner<\/a>. You&#8217;ll hear about an online Chinese course that utilizes Can-Do Statements as learning objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.625;\">Assessment with LinguaFolio Online: Implementing LFO as a Meaningful Formative Tool in Your Classroom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After educators set goals for their classrooms, they must design activities to match the goals that they have set forth. This process involves outlining a clear final unit&nbsp;assessment by using our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/03\/Unit_Planner_Guide_Final_Updates.pdf\">Unit Planner<\/a>&nbsp;and a rubric of some sort (please see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/09\/Novice-Presentational-Communication-Rubric.pdf\">Novice Presentational Communication Rubric<\/a>&nbsp;for an example rubric). In other words, LFO is designed to capture what learners&nbsp;<em>can do&nbsp;<\/em>with language. Please consider these&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lfonetwork.uoregon.edu\/educator-using-linguafolio\/capturing-evidence\/\">evidence examples<\/a>&nbsp;when you design tasks to help learners to create evidence. Without doing so, the integrity of LinguaFolio as a formative assessment tool is undermined. More supports related to reflective practices are coming soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s next<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After learners and educators have the opportunity to reflect on the evidence uploaded to LinguaFolio Online, they must both work to establish new goals for learning based on the learners&#8217; performance.
