Days of Service

Days of Service support and cultivate a spirit of engagement and service on campus and in the community. They also can provide you an opportunity to explore what potential ways you can use your interests or skills to make a positive impact in our community.

In addition to our two nationally-recognized days of service—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Earth Day—we also start the year off by coming together in community for Fall Day of Service. By participating in these days of service, alongside other Ducks, you will be a part of a larger-scale effort by hundreds of thousands of students across the nation to affect positive change and serve others in our country and our communities.

Serve your community anywhere you are. Check out these virtual opportunities.

Each year, disasters around the world kill nearly 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally “missing” from open and accessible maps and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of people who live at risk.

DOROT and Letters Against Isolation work to alleviate the burden of social isolation that is frequently faced by older populations through social initiatives such as calls, group meetings, and card making. Learn more about the organization on the DOROT website.

Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7, high-quality, text-based mental health support and crisis intervention by empowering a community of trained volunteers to support people in their moments of need. This opportunity does require a 30-hour training and a volunteering commitment of four hours a week after training.
