Building Character(s) FIG Instructor and Assistant
FIG Instructor: Dean Mundy
Hi everyone! I’m Dean Mundy, and I’m an associate professor in the SOJC’s public relations major. Originally from North Carolina (Go Heels!), my husband and I moved here in 2014 (time flies). My research is twofold. I broadly look at how organizations convey values related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their strategic communication practices (and yes, the current environment is, for lack of a better word, “fascinating” to study.) More specifically, I have looked at best practices regarding how LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations use strategic communication to forward their campaigns for equality. Prior to entering academia, I worked in the corporate world for about a decade, mostly for the Coca-Cola company, but also for Accenture Consulting and the now-defunct Nortel Networks.
More importantly, this is a recent picture of me eating fried pickles in Bend, Oregon. Fried pickles are important.
Hello! My name is Paige, I am a rising Junior pursuing a Psychology major and Biology + German minor, and I am from just outside Chicago, IL. At home, I love to go swimming in the lake and attend concerts downtown! Some other things I enjoy include crafting, hiking, baking, and skiing. This is my second year being a FIG assistant for The Building Character FIG, and I'm so happy to be welcomed back. This FIG is all about creating personas, exploring each of them in depth, and building a story including all of them. I am super excited to build a great FIG community this upcoming fall and can't wait to get to know everybody! I am involved in many different on-campus activities and organizations, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, academic or about campus life! I'm here to support you in your transition to college!
