Sherman\u2019s paper \u201cWhatever Happened to Zulay?\u201d is now available online in the <a href=\"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/docs\/publications\/ResearchMatters\/winter_2010RM.pdf\">Winter 2010 issue of <em>CSWS Research Matters<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Argentine filmmaker Jorge Preloran and anthropologist Mabel Preloran made a film about the life of Zulay Sarabino in a small Andean village in Ecuador more than 20 years ago. Sherman is currently at work on a follow-up documentary that \u201cexplores Zulay\u2019s life today and the decisions she has made since the earlier film.\u201d A University of Oregon professor of Folklore and English, Sherman appears along with Zulay in this new documentary, as they both make changes and talk about the project.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecent theoretical studies of Latin American testimonial literature offer insights to filmmaking and the study of cultural heritage and folklore. These testimonials, which have long made Latin American women a focus, have become increasingly open about considering the relationship between the \u2018researcher\u2019 and the \u2018researched,\u2019\u201d says Sherman.<a href=\"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/docs\/publications\/ResearchMatters\/winter_2010RM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sherman\u2019s work is supported by a grant from the Center for the Study of Women in Society.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/wp-content\/docs\/publications\/ResearchMatters\/winter_2010RM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to access a PDF of Sherman\u2019s article.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Documentary filmmaker Sharon R.
