Adell Amos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Clayton R. Hess Professor of Law, Environmental and Natural Resource Law Center, School of Law<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collegiality. Self-Discovery. Mentorship. To Adell Amos<\/a>, associate dean for academic affairs at the School of Law<\/a> and Clayton R. Hess professor of law at the Environmental Natural Resource Law Center<\/a>, these values have been key to her personal and professional success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When\n Amos attended Oregon Law in 1998, she points to a cohort of women who \nmade the difference. \u201cWe didn\u2019t just study together, but we held each \nother up in so many ways,\u201d said Amos. \u201cAll the challenges and victories \nwe faced as we navigated professional school taught me how I wanted to \napproach my new profession and the work I wanted to do in the world.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\n is this supportive environment that Amos now creates for her students. \n\u201cEveryone learns differently,\u201d she said. \u201cI tell my students that when \nyou can stop comparing yourself to those around you and really focus on \nhow you learn, then you start to engage your education for your \npurposes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These lessons and her mentorship are changing the lives of her students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cProfessor Amos is genuinely invested in our success,\u201d said Grace Brahler, a fellow who works with Amos in the law school\u2019s Oceans, Coasts and Watersheds Project<\/a>. \u201cShe teaches us to be mindful about where we spend our energy and how we use our privilege and skills to support others.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
