The award was\npart of the 2020 Oregon Literary Fellowships Program, which helps Oregon\nwriters initiate, develop, or complete literary projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Celona was awarded a CSWS faculty research grant in 2018-19\nfor writing time to complete her forthcoming novel, <em>How a Woman Becomes a\nLake,<\/em> which will be published this year by Penguin Random House (USA),\nLittle, Brown (UK), and Malpaso Ediciones (Spain). Her debut novel, <em>Y<\/em>,\nwas published in eight countries and won France\u2019s <em>Grand Prix Litt\u00e9raire de\nl\u2019H\u00e9ro\u00efne<\/em>. A graduate of the Iowa Writers\u2019 Workshop, her work has appeared\nin <em>The O. Henry Prize Stores, The Best American Nonrequired Reading, The\nSouthern Review, Harvard Review, The Sunday Times,<\/em> and elsewhere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Applications for the\n2021 Oregon Literary Fellowships will open in April 2020. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assistant professor Marjorie Celona, creative writing, has received an Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship for her fiction writing.
