\u201cFinding \u2018Light born in darkness:\u2019 The Urgency of Feminist Activism in These Times\u201d<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sylvanna M. Falc\u00f3n, University of California, Santa Cruz<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Sylvanna M. Falc\u00f3n <\/a>is an associate professor in the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) and the director of the Research Center for the Americas<\/a> at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research and teaching interests are in human rights activism, transnational feminism, racism and antiracism, and transitional justice in Peru. <\/p>\n\n\n\n She is the author of the award-winning book Power Interrupted: Antiracist and Feminist Activists inside the United Nations<\/em><\/a>, [University of Washington Press, 2016 \u2013 awarded the National Women\u2019s Studies Association Gloria E. Anzald\u00faa Book Award] and the co-editor of New Directions in Feminism and Human Rights<\/em><\/a> [Routledge, 2011]. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including International Journal of Transitional Justice<\/em>, Frontiers: A Journal of Women\u2019s Studies, Feminist Formations, Journal of Women\u2019s History<\/em>, Gender & Society, International Feminist Journal of Politics, Societies Without Borders, <\/em>and Social Justice. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n She is a former UN co-consultant to the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women.
