All four will be presenting papers at conferences and will receive $300 each to support their travel expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Quinn Akina, a graduate employee in the Department of History, will present the paper \u201cTransforming Inmates into Wives: Hawaii\u2019s Experiment with the Incarceration and Domestic Education of Girls, 1915-1939,\u201d at NAISA Conference 2019, to be held in Hamilton, New Zealand.<\/li><li>Tara Keegan, a graduate employee in the Department of History, will present her paper \u201cMoving Past Pocahontas: Indian Maidens in the Pacific Northwest, 1926\u201d at the Western Association of Women Historians for the panel <em>Seeing and Hearing Native Women in the Early Twentieth Century<\/em> to be held in April in Portland, Oregon.<\/li><li>Maggie Newton, a PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy, will present the paper \u201cIs Prescribing \u2018White Shame\u2019 Possible? A Pragmatist and Feminist Phenomenological Examination,\u201d at the conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy.<\/li><li>Carla Osorio-Veliz, a Phd candidate in the Department of Geography, will present the paper \u201cWomxn of Color in Anti-Gentrification Organizing: A Case Study of the Eastside and South Central Los Angeles,\u201d at the Association of <strong>A<\/strong>merican Geographers Annual Meeting 2019 to be held in April in Washington D.C.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 19, 2019\u2014The Center for the Study of Women in Society selected four UO graduate students\u2014Quinn Akina, Tara Keegan, Maggie Newton, and Carla Osorio-Veliz\u2014as the recipients of our 2018-19 CSWS Travel Grants.
