Faculty, administrators, and graduate students have an opportunity to explore issues of faculty diversity with Patricia Matthew, the editor of Written\/Unwritten: Diversity and the Hidden Truths of Tenure <\/i>(University of North Carolina Press, 2016) at 3:30 pm Wednesday, Oct. 17, in EMU 230, the Swindells room. Her lecture is titled \u201cWritten\/Unwritten: On the Promise and Limits of Diversity and Inclusion.\u201d <\/p>\n

An associate professor of English at Montclair State University, Matthew gives lectures on the topic at universities throughout the country. Her work on faculty diversity has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education<\/em><\/a>, Inside Higher Education<\/em><\/a>, and The Los Angeles Review of Books<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

She has published essays and book reviews on diversity in higher education in PMLA<\/em>, The ADE Bulletin<\/em>, Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society<\/em>, The New Inquiry<\/em>, and The Atlantic<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Patricia Matthew<\/p><\/div>\n

Her work on faculty diversity has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education<\/em><\/a>, Inside Higher Education<\/em><\/a>, and The Los Angeles Review of Books<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

She is a specialist in the history of the novel and British abolitionist literature and has published articles on these subjects in European Romantic Review<\/em>, Women\u2019s Writing<\/em>, Nineteenth-Century Gender Studies<\/em>, and the Keats-Shelley Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Her essays on race, popular culture, and British literature have been published in Lapham\u2019s Quarterly<\/em> and The Atlantic<\/em>. She is currently writing a book on sugar, gender, and political protests in nineteenth-century England.<\/p>\n
