September 27, 2017\u2014<\/strong>Scott Pratt, executive vice provost for academic affairs, announced that Ellen Herman, professor of history and faculty co-director of University of Oregon\u2019s Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, and Rebecca Flynn, managing co-director of the Wayne Morse Center, will be joining the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs in interim roles.<\/p>\n

Herman will serve as interim vice provost for academic affairs and Flynn will serve as interim assistant vice provost for academic affairs. Together, they will be responsible for managing tenure-track faculty review, and tenure and promotion processes.<\/p>\n

In her 18-year tenure at the UO, Herman has served as a faculty member, department head and as co-director of the Wayne Morse Center. Flynn joined the university in 2011 as administrator for the Wayne Morse Center and has a background in law, politics and strategic planning.<\/p>\n

Both Herman and Flynn\u2019s appointments in the provost office will be halftime while they continue their work in the Wayne Morse Center. The search for a permanent vice provost will resume in the spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
