The University of Oregon and the University of Virginia are not as far away, both geographically and politically, as one might think. Both are liberal campuses within liberal, democratic, Bernie-voting enclaves. We have every reason to believe that white supremacists are gearing up for more campus demonstrations. The neo-Nazi white supremacist hate rally that occurred in Charlottesville this past weekend was not an anomaly, and it is not outside the realm of possibility for an outspoken hate event to occur so publicly, with such large numbers, and with such violence. <\/p>\n
When the white supremacists in Oregon feel emboldened enough to hold a similar rally in Eugene on our campus, how will our campus respond? How will our community respond? Where will YOU be? How will you say, NOT HERE, NOT EVER?<\/p>\n
