Herrmann, a CSWS faculty affiliate, is an associate professor of Spanish in the Department of Romance Languages. This award goes to \u201chonor faculty and staff who provide the strong mentorship that is essential to strong graduate programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_24137\" style=\"width: 174px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/csws-faculty-affiliate-gina-herrmanns-research-gives-voice-women-activists-jailed-wartime\/gina_herrmann\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24137\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24137\" class=\" wp-image-24137\" src=\"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Gina_Herrmann-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"219\" width=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csws-archive.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Gina_Herrmann.jpg 225w, https:\/\/csws-archive.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Gina_Herrmann-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/csws-archive.uoregon.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Gina_Herrmann-160x213.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 164px) 100vw, 164px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-24137\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gina Herrmann<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Additionally, Prof. Herrmann was recently notified that she is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for 2017-18 to continue research on her book project, <em>Voices of the Vanquished: Spanish Women on the Left between Franco and Hitler<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Herrmann received a 2015-16 CSWS Faculty Research Grant toward research on this book, which you can learn more about in her article&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/csws-archive.uoregon.edu\/docs\/publications\/2016_Annual_Rvw_Herrmann.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cSpanish Women in the French Resistance and Ravensbruck\u201d<\/a> in the <em>2016 CSWS Annual Review<\/em>. Here is an excerpt from the book description: \u201c<em>Voices of the Vanquished<\/em> is comprised of chapters that take readers from the revolutionary early days of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), to the period of the clandestine armed resistance to Franco (1939-1950s), and then on to the French Resistance (1940-45).
