{"id":20882,"date":"2014-12-03T23:01:25","date_gmt":"2014-12-04T07:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/?p=20882"},"modified":"2017-09-21T10:45:56","modified_gmt":"2017-09-21T17:45:56","slug":"standd-cswss-newest-research-interest-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csws-archive.uoregon.edu\/standd-cswss-newest-research-interest-group\/","title":{"rendered":"STAnDD is CSWS\u2019s Newest Research Interest Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>December 1, 2014\u2014<\/strong>Architecture graduate students Roxy Robles and Nicolette Stauffer are the coordinators of a new <a href=\"http:\/\/csws.uoregon.edu\/research\/rigs\/\" target=\"_blank\">research interest group<\/a> (RIG) at the University of Oregon\u2019s Center for the Study of Women in Society.<\/p>\n<p>STAnDD, which stands for \u201csupporting the advancement of diversity in design,\u201d held its first organizational meeting in the fall term of AY 2014-15. STAnDD\u2019s goals are to create opportunities for mentorship, leadership and collaboration within the environmental design community. The mission is to create a community for the advancement of women and the promotion of diversity in the fields of architecture and design.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Daisy-O\u2019lice Williams, an assistant professor in the UO Department of Architecture, is the faculty sponsor for the STAnDD RIG.<\/p>\n<h6>RIG Plans for 2014-15<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Brownbag lunch talks with faculty and professionals from the community.<\/li>\n<li>Technology-based workshops (GIS, Adobe Suite, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising movie nights.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating with existing programs to perform outreach at area K-12 schools.<\/li>\n<li>Awareness campaigns surrounding facts about gender and diversity in the profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CSWS launched its research interest group model in 1994 with the intention to foster scholarly collaboration among faculty, staff, graduate students, and community members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 1, 2014\u2014Architecture graduate students Roxy Robles and Nicolette Stauffer are the coordinators of a new research interest group (RIG) at the University of Oregon\u2019s Center for the Study of Women in Society.
