Fall African Studies Lecture Series: Women and Gender in Africa<\/h4>\n

\u201cNetworking for Women\u2019s Rights: Transnational Organizing in Southern Africa\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Braun is an associate professor in the Departments of Women\u2019s and Gender Studies and International Studies at the University of Oregon. She also serves as the director of African Studies and director of Graduate Studies in the Department of International Studies. Dr. Braun received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the Program On Social Relations at the University of California, Irvine, along with a certificate in women\u2019s studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of gender, environment, development, and globalization, with a specific focus on the social and socio-environmental consequences of a large-scale dam development project in Lesotho, Southern Africa. \"AFR_Lecture_Series_Poster_Fall_14_WEB\"<\/a>She has received funding from the American Sociological Association, and been a recipient of Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) and Fulbright grants.\u00a0 Dr. Braun\u2019s recent publications include \u201cLeft High and Dry: An Intersectional Analysis of Gender, Dams, and Development in Lesotho,\u201d which won the Inaugural Enloe Award 2010 from the International Feminist Journal of Politics.
