Alice Evans<\/p><\/div>\n

Alice Evans, CSWS research dissemination specialist now in a post-retirement role, joined CSWS in January 2009. She has been the managing editor of the CSWS Annual Review and website, and the coordinator of the CSWS Northwest Women Writers Symposium.<\/p>\n

A professional journalist with roots in creative writing, Alice has worked as managing editor of publications for Holt International Children\u2019s Services; editor of Midwifery Today<\/em> magazine; managing editor for one of Advanstar\u2019s trade publications; and bookseller at Marketplace Books. She has freelanced for the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association, the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Oregon Quarterly<\/em>, Poets & Writers<\/em> magazine, The Oregonian<\/em>, Eugene Weekly<\/em>, and many other publications. She has written dozens of book reviews for The Oregonian<\/em> book pages since 1996. An assistant editor of fiction for Northwest Review<\/em> in the early \u201990s, she studied creative writing with Ralph Salisbury and Maggie Anderson. She was awarded a one-month residency at the Wolf Pen Writer\u2019s Colony (Kentucky Foundation for Women) in the early 1990s. Her essays have been published in five Seal Press outdoor anthologies and her poems and stories have appeared in numerous small literary publications and anthologies. She is a former newspaper reporter and holds a master\u2019s degree in journalism from Indiana University. Her husband, Jonathan, is a retired systems analyst. Their daughter, Ursula, graduated from the UO in 2006.<\/p>\n
