G<\/span><span class=\"control col-md-10\"><span class=\"control col-md-10\">uest panelists: <b>Vanessa K. Vald\u00e9s<\/b>, Black Studies professor, CUNY, and series editor, Afro-Latinx Futures, SUNY University Press; and <b>Yolanda Martinez-San Miguel<\/b>, Modern Languages professor, University of Miami, and series editor, Critical Caribbean Studies, Rutgers University Press.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>March 5, 2021:<\/strong> The Women of Color Project presented a discussion of <em>Beauty Diplomacy: Embodying an Emerging Nation<\/em> (Stanford University Press, Globalization in Everyday Life Series, 2020) by <strong>Oluwakemi \u201cKemi\u201d Balogun,<\/strong> assistant professor of women&#8217;s, gender, and sexuality studies. Guest panelists: <strong>L. Ayu Saraswati<\/strong>, associate professor and chair of women\u2019s studies at the University of Hawai\u2019i and author of <em>Seeing Beauty, Sensing Race in Transnational Indonesia<\/em> (NYU Press, 2013); and <strong>Erin Beck<\/strong>, associate professor of political science at University of Oregon and author of How <em>Development Projects Persist: Everyday Negotiations with Guatemalan NGOs<\/em> (Duke University Press, 2017).<\/p>\n<p><strong>April 23, 2021:<\/strong> The Women of Color Project presented a discussion of <em>Indigenous Children\u2019s Survivance in Public Schools<\/em> (Routledge, 2020) by <strong>Leilani Sabzalian<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uoregon.edu\/csws\/files\/2021\/02\/Book-cover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-32748 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uoregon.edu\/csws\/files\/2021\/02\/Book-cover-200x300.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uoregon.edu\/csws\/files\/2021\/02\/Book-cover-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.uoregon.edu\/csws\/files\/2021\/02\/Book-cover.jpg 450w\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\"><\/a>assistant professor of Indigenous Studies in Education and co-director of the Sapsik\u2019wa\u0142\u00e1 (Teacher) Education Program at University of Oregon. Brown Faculty Fellow (2019-21), director of Native American Studies at University of Oregon, and author of <em>Stoking the Fire: Nationhood in Cherokee Writing, 1907-1970<\/em> (University of Oklahoma Press, 2018).<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 7, 2021:<\/strong> The Women of Color Project presented a discussion of <em>The Race Card: From Gaming Technologies to Model Minorities<\/em> (NYU Press, 2019) by <strong>Tara Fickle<\/strong>, associate professor of English, affiliated with Asian &amp; Pacific Studies and Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies at the University of Oregon.
