He is the author of twenty books, most recently the forthcoming book <em>Death of a Nation and the Future of the Arab Revolution<\/em> (University of California Press, 2016), and earlier than that <em>The Poorer Nations: A Possible History of the Global South<\/em> (Verso, 2013). He is a weekly columnist for a<em>l-Araby<\/em>, <em>al-Jadeed<\/em>, <em>Birg\u00fcn<\/em> and <em>AlterNet<\/em>, as well as a fortnightly columnist for <em>Frontline<\/em> and a regular contributor
