June 25, 2015\u2014\u00a0\u201c<\/strong>Collective Memory and\u00a0Human Rights in Guatemala: Lessons from the Past and Challenges for the Present,\u201d a\u00a0one-day international\u00a0seminar\u00a0devoted to human rights, took place on Thursday, June 25, 2015, \u00a0and was\u00a0attended by more than 120 faculty, students, NGO workers, archivists, diplomats, and others in Guatemala City.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n

University of Oregon professors\u00a0Carlos Aguirre, Department of History; Lynn Stephen, Department of Anthropology and CLLAS director; and Gabriela Mart\u00ednez,\u00a0SOJC, made presentations along\u00a0with Kate Doyle of the National Security Archives. The seminar was hosted by the University of\u00a0San Carlos and the Historic Archive of the Guatemalan National Police, and cohosted by the University of Oregon\u00a0through the sponsorship of\u00a0the Carlton and Wilberta Ripley Savage Endowment for International Relations and Peace and the Network Startup Resource Center.<\/p>\n
