Mr. Ramirez will be on campus Thursday, Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 to lecture and meet with students, faculty, staff and community members.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thursday, November 20 \u201cEquitable Food Initiative: Why it is a Game Changer in the Agriculture Business\u201d to be co-sponsored by the UO Law School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at Knight Law Room 175.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, November 21 \u201cForming Coalitions and Grassroots Organizing\u201d with special music by renowned Mexican singer and composer, Gabino Palomares at the Great Room at the Global Scholars Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Free and open to the community. Reception following each event.\u00a0Please contact eacacio@uoregon.edu if you have any questions.<\/p>\n<p>Elder-in-Residence Ramon Ramirez Information here: http:\/\/inclusion.uoregon.edu\/ElderinResidenceRamirez<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Elder-in-Residence program is meant to share the wisdom of Elders (repositories and transmitters of knowledge and wisdom) from traditionally underrepresented communities in higher education in the state of Oregon. Mr. Ramirez&#8217;s visit will help inform the university community about the history and contributions of Latinos in Oregon and extend knowledge and support about forming coalitions and solidarity within our institutional mission around diversity.<\/p>\n<p>In the last decade, Ramirez has been an integral part of numerous academic initiatives on campus, collaborating with the Center for Latino\/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) and their Latino Roots projects, the UO Libraries\u2019 Special Collections and University Archives, the Labor Education and Research Center (LERC), as well as guest lecturing in various courses and delivering the 2013 commencement address for the Department of Ethnic Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Ramirez is a founding member and president of Pineros y
