He\u00a0conducted a series of interviews in Havana of young writers, artists, and intellectuals before, during, and after the International Hip Hop Festival in early August 2014. In particular, he\u00a0 examined the reception and dissemination of the lyrics of Los Aldeanos, a group given prominent billing at the festival in 2013 and identified in a 2006 <em>New York Times<\/em> article as part of \u201cCuba\u2019s Rap Vanguard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hankin is one of two UO graduate students recently announced\u00a0a recipient of a Fulbright Research Award.
