Her project is an interdisciplinary investigation into an alternative, arts-based form of resistance to Colombian neoliberal policies using the case study of Fundaci\u00f3n Proyecto de Vida, a nonpro\ufb01t organization in the city of Bogot\u00e1, Colombia. She argues that the arts-based program is essential in breaking cycles of violence with internally displaced youth that are otherwise perpetuated by the lack of government social programs. Her research documents how the arts-based program actively strengthens the community by aiding in the social and psychological development of youth who have experienced prolonged trauma. Faris is the recipient of a 2012 CLLAS Graduate Student Summer Research Grant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cllas.uoregon.edu\/cllas-announces-graduate-student-summer-2013-research-grants\/\"
