We expect to award at least four research grants for up to $3,000 each to advance research for either master\u2019s or doctoral students whose research focuses on Latinx or Latin American topics. We are especially interested in projects that link Latinx Studies or Latin American Studies with other disciplines.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\r\n<hr>\r\n<h2>Award Details<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Four grants are available to support master&#8217;s or doctoral research.<\/li>\r\n<li>The maximum award is $3000 per proposal. There is no minimum to apply \u2013 smaller proposals are welcome. Most awards will range from $1000-$3000.<\/li>\r\n<li>The award will support research-related activities carried out before December 31, 2026.<\/li>\r\n<li>Grant recipients are required to deliver a short research presentation in the 2026-2027 academic year. Competitive proposals clearly connect their project to Latinx and\/or Latin American communities, histories, cultures, or social issues, and explain how the work contributes new knowledge, perspectives, or creative approaches within these fields. Reviewers prioritize proposals that demonstrate a realistic and achievable scope within the proposed timeline and budget.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Statement of Qualifications and CV\/Resume<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 A document that includes a Statement of Qualifications and your CV\/Resume. Your statement should be concise, highlighting your relevant qualifications, expertise, and ability to execute the proposed research project. Statements must not be longer than one page, and CVs\/resumes must not be longer than two pages.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Project Budget and Current Funding Sources<\/strong> \u2013 Please provide a detailed project budget explaining how CLLAS funds will be used, any additional funding sources, and any remaining funding gaps (if applicable). Each budget item should clearly connect to the proposed project activities and briefly explain why the expense is necessary. <em data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"524\">CLLAS grants do not cover equipment such as digital cameras or laptops.<\/em> A budget template is available for your convenience: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1wWPeX0Ygtdidwxdn8zKwi0w3GOwlwz2z\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=102846987003451833545&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark>CLLAS Grant Budget Template<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Letter of Recommendation<\/strong>&nbsp;(to be submitted by primary advisor) \u2013 A concise letter of recommendation from the student\u2019s primary advisor is required. The letter should explain how this grant will significantly enhance the student\u2019s ability to complete their degree and should comment on the quality and feasibility of the proposed project. This letter carries significant weight in the application review process.\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Please provide the name and email address of your primary advisor in the online grant application. Once you submit your application, your advisor will automatically receive an email from CLLAS, with instructions for submitting their letter of recommendation on your behalf. Advisors will be able to submit reference letters via our email through March 10, 2026.
