MUS 149. Elements of Popular Songwriting. 3 Credits.
This course explores songwriting as both a creative art and a craft of communication. Students will learn to generate ideas, write lyrics and melodies, craft strong song structures, and develop demo recordings. Through analysis, critique, and collaboration, each student will produce a portfolio of original songs that demonstrate artistic voice, musicality, and technical understanding. Open to Popular Music majors only.
