DANC 386. Dance in the African Diaspora: [Topic]. 2 Credits.

Exploration of the influence of dances, traditions, and movement principles originated in Africa, transported through the trans Atlantic slave trade, and transformed by Africans and their descendants. It will explore the effects of this process on the development of movement culture in regions of the Americas including the United States, the Caribbean, and Brazil. Course work focuses on movement exploration supported by readings, viewings, discussions, and movement projects.
Requisites: Prereq: DANC 175, DANC 185.
Repeatable 2 times for a maximum of 6 credits when topic changes

Dance Minor
