CRWR 110. Creative Writing in the Age of AI. 4 Credits.
Students across disciplines increasingly use artificial intelligence in their writing, often in ways that substitute automated text generation for original thinking and creative labor. This course approaches AI as a tool to support, rather than replace, the work of fiction writing. Students learn how AI platforms can assist with drafting, analysis, and revision while preserving authorial voice, intellectual rigor, and artistic intent. The course introduces the fundamentals of fiction—character, point of view, structure, and style—while emphasizing revision as a central practice, with AI integrated thoughtfully into the editing process. Students produce approximately 30 pages of original fiction over the term
