Comparative Literature (PhD)

To thrive professionally, every scholar in the discipline must be closely trained in a primary national literature, proficient in at least three languages, and attuned to the importance of philology, bibliography, and linguistic training. At the same time, a commitment to comparative study requires a firm grasp of translation among languages and media and the history of reading practices, as well as aesthetic and cultural theory.
