We as educators can benefit, too.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edweek.org\/ew\/articles\/2015\/09\/23\/carol-dweck-revisits-the-growth-mindset.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Research <\/a>shows that reflective practice facilitates a growth mindset. Those who believe they can develop their intelligence outperform those who believe intelligence is fixed.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been providing e-portfolios for students since 2008. In partnership with&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/pearll.nflc.umd.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Professionals in Education Advancing Research and Language Learning (PEARLL)<\/a>, we&#8217;re now developing a professional e-portfolio called Catalyst for world language educators.<\/p>\n<p>Catalyst allows world language educators to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set professional goals<\/li>\n<li>Identify their strengths<\/li>\n<li>Upload work samples and reflections to document ongoing growth<\/li>\n<li>Compare their current practices to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tellproject.org\/framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Teacher Effectiveness for Language Learning (TELL) framework<\/a>, a research-based set of characteristics and behaviors that model world language teachers exhibit<\/li>\n<li>Connect to professional learning resources, including small group peer-to-peer mentoring<\/li>\n<li>Create and participate in professional groups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Catalyst, educators of all levels can connect with others to engage in meaningful collaboration and receive feedback on teaching practices. Workshop facilitators, department heads, and other professional mentors can encourage and support professional growth toward shared goals.
